WELCOME TO THE NEW PENCADER AND DISTRICT WEB SITE

Thank you for visiting the new, re-designed Pencader and District Web site.

Our thanks go to Clare and Lewis at CAVS Web Services for their work in making this transformation possible.

Most of what was on the original site is still available, but the really significant change is that the Group now has full control of the content. Volunteers from the Group and other local organisations can now add information and update news items without expense or the need for advanced skills. Comments can be made by all visitors to the pages.

This will make the Pencader & District Web site more involving and interactive, reflecting more of our community, its people, activities and services.

It is not intended that this new Web site will replace Clecs Bro Cader in any way. However, items from Clecs may appear on the site and copies of published editions will be available in PDF format for download.

Suggestions and contributions to improve the Web site are welcome. If you organise a local group or activity within the Llanfihangel-Ar-Arth Community and would like a permanent notice about it or the ability to post regular updates please let us know. We would also very much like to expand our Gallery with your photos of community events, local scenes or historical pictures.

Please contact us at webmaster@pencader.org.uk or via the Contact page on the Web site.

If you contact us and don’t receive a response we apologise. It is still early days for this venture and we are still learning and organising. We value all your feedback as this is what will help to make the new Web site a success.

We hope you enjoy your visit. Please save a link to this site in your Favourites or Links toolbar so that you can return here later.

P.I.D.A (Reg Charity No : 507994)

Following this year’s Carnival the profit was £3661.28. Donations of £200 to Cae’r Felin School and £100 to Pencader Beavers/Cubs have already been given as well as a contribution to the Pensioners’ Christmas Lunch. Thanks to all who supported the carnival events. The long awaited work on the village playing field will hopefully start next spring or as soon as possible.

Firework Night

Another successful firework night was held on the village field in Pencader. The weather was on our side again as crowds began coming. Burgers and hot dogs were cooked and consumed eagerly and thanks must go to our loyal cooks, Eric, Janet and Eileen who were ably assisted by chef Wyn Phillips. Hot and cold drinks were served in the kitchen and again thanks must go to Ann Phillips and Morfudd Jones .

The firework display started, again with the experts in charge, Carl Atkinson and Darrel Jones who annually turns up trumps with the fireworks purchase. They had many able assistants to lighten the workload this year and the PIDA committee wish to thank everyone who helped in any way. Thanks also for donations, officials on the gate and the raffle sellers. It was really encouraging to see the young getting involved in the events, many thanks. Thanks also to Ysgol Cae’r Felin for distributing the flyers.

Thanks most of all to everyone who attended, without you there wouldn’t be a point in organising the event.

If I have omitted anyone in my thanks, I apologise, it is unintentional.

P.Ann Jones (Treasurer)

The Annual General Meeting of Cymdeithas Neuadd yr Ysgol, Llanfihangel, was held on October 25th under the chairmanship of the Rev Bonnie Timothy. More than 30 people came to the meeting and it was explained that we are now in a very different situation, since the Hall is now the property of the village and community. There were several clauses in our constitution which were relevant to the time when we were answerable to St David’s Diocese and all these clauses were changed since we are not answerable to anyone any more, only to the Llanfihangel villagers. Everyone who had contributed so generously to the fund to buy the building was thanked and a personal letter of thanks has gone to each contributor. The main committee and officers were elected for the new year as follows –

Chairman – Esta Jones

Vice-chairman - Eleri Retallick

Treasurer – Wendy Brooker

Secretary – Meinir Ffransis

Committee – Margaret Rees, Elinor Flello, Bonnie Timothy, Ffred Ffransis, Catrin Thomas (to represent the Urdd) and Shân Phillips (to represent the Sunday school). A representative from the Playing Field Committee was also requested. Also on the committee are 3 representatives of the old Llanfihangel Welfare Hall fund, namely Calvin Griffiths, Mair Wilson and Myfanwy Davies and the local church has the right to appoint 3 representatives. It was decided in the AGM we would ask a group of skilled people in the fields of building and planning to be on a building working party which will collect ideas and plans on how to improve the building for the future. Calvin Griffiths will be the chairman of the working party and Eddie Carman, Alun Davies and Ieuan Walters have agreed to assist in the task. A certain amount of work needs to be done on the building but it is now our responsibility to improve and develop the place for our own specific purposes. The future is exciting and we hope to have the support and assistance of the entire village to go on with the work.
